Pattaya is 147 km from Bangkok, a drive of 2 hours on the highway. Buses and trains come in from Bangkok and other towns in Thailand. The closest airport is at U-Tapo, a half hour drive from Pattaya. Within Pattaya, cars, jeeps, motorcycles and taxis are inexpensive. Take a water scooter, ferry, hydrofoil or boat to neighbouring islands. December to February is the best time to visit. The temperature will be around 30° C and humidity is always high. Tropical rain is very likely at this time. Pattaya has excellent hotels, resorts, luxury beachside hotels, bungalows and lodges in the high to medium budget range. For budget accommodation, try inland hotels and guesthouses. Pattaya is a popular destination - book in advance during the season.
